The real problem

A decade of study, still afraid to speak

You are not bad at languages: passive listening and reading aloud alone never show you where you go wrong.

A year of listening, still lost

Passive podcast listening lets you half-understand and move on. Your ear is never forced to work, so you never learn which word you actually missed.

Transcribe each sentence — Smart Diff points at the exact words you got wrong or dropped.

See Dictation lessons

Reading aloud alone, nobody correcting

No one tells you which sound is off. Repeat it long enough and the mispronunciation becomes a habit that only gets harder to unlearn.

Record against a native waveform and get AI scoring down to the IPA phoneme.

See Shadowing lessons

50 words copied, gone in three days

Cram one evening, then leave it. New words pile on top of old ones before either reaches long-term memory, so most of it simply drains away.

The SM-2 algorithm brings each word back exactly when you are about to forget it.

Test day is your first time on the machine

You drilled on paper. Then the CBT room hands you an unfamiliar interface, a live countdown, and audio that plays only the permitted number of times.

Sit mocks in the real CBT interface and meet that pressure long before it counts.

The basis for the method

Not study hacks — methods with a paper trail

All three of Pingra’s core techniques have published origins. You can look them up rather than take our word for it.

Ebbinghaus 1885 · SM-2 1987

Spaced repetition

Hermann Ebbinghaus measured the forgetting curve back in 1885. The SM-2 algorithm (SuperMemo) turned it into a computable review schedule. Pingra runs SM-2 as specified: you rate Again/Hard/Good/Easy and the system sets the next review date.

An interpreter-training technique

Shadowing

Speaking over a native recording almost simultaneously is long-established in interpreter training. Pingra adds waveform comparison and scoring against the IPA, the International Phonetic Alphabet.

Active listening, word-level scoring

Dictation

Transcribing forces your ear to resolve each sound instead of guessing the gist. Smart Diff aligns your text word by word using longest-common-subsequence, so it shows exactly where the gap is rather than just right or wrong.

Frequently asked

Common questions about Pingra

What learners ask most before they start practising with Pingra Fox.

Pingra is an AI-powered language learning and exam preparation platform. You train English through five core methods — Dictation, Shadowing, SM-2 spaced repetition vocabulary, translation practice and AI conversational reflex — study Chinese with a dedicated Hanzi writing suite, and sit certificate mocks in a simulated CBT exam room.
IELTS Academic, TOEIC Listening & Reading, and HSK in both the current 2.0 standard and HSK 3.0. TOEIC Speaking & Writing and VSTEP open once their official score conversion is in place. The interface mirrors a real computer-based test: split screen, live countdown, audio that plays only the permitted number of times, a question palette for flagging, and a detailed score breakdown after you submit.
Dictation uses real audio from YouTube and TED with bilingual subtitles: you type each sentence back and the Smart Diff algorithm aligns it word by word, marking correct words green, wrong words red and dropped words amber. Shadowing lets you record over a native speaker, compare the two waveforms, and receive pronunciation scoring down to individual IPA phonemes plus a separate fluency score.
Yes. The Chinese suite includes a Hanzi writing pad that teaches correct stroke order on a rice grid (with a quiz mode that checks every stroke), a library of common Kangxi radicals searchable by stroke count, and a worksheet generator that exports printable practice sheets as PDF. The HSK vocabulary bank holds over 119,000 words and characters.
Pingra builds on the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve and the SM-2 algorithm. After each review you rate yourself Again / Hard / Good / Easy, the system recalculates the next interval, and the word returns exactly when you are about to forget it — which moves vocabulary into long-term memory without rote drilling.
Yes. The free plan covers daily SRS vocabulary, Dictation and Shadowing sessions to keep your streak alive, plus the core Chinese tools. Pro unlocks unlimited AI evaluations, the full CBT exam library and the advanced reflex practice rooms.
